National Parks
“There is nothing so American as our national parks”
-Franklin D. Roosevelt

National Parks are the (not-so-hidden) gems of the United States. There are 63 national parks included in a total of 423 national sites or "units." There's a ton of rich history, breathtaking scenery, and adventures waiting to happen! The great thing about parks is that every time you go back, there's something new to experience.
Parks are usually so massive that even if you spend a week there you just scratch the surface. Your goal for your trip also directs your experience. For example, Yosemite National Park is full of hiking routes, waterfalls, climbing walls, lookouts, lakes, bike paths, and more. My intention when I travel to Yosemite National Park is usually day hiking or backpacking, making my experience vastly different from a climber's.
Before you travel to a National Park, Site, Monument, etc., it's advantageous to have a sense of purpose of why you're visiting. Alternatively, go in blindly and see what you can discover! Who am I to tell you how to live your adventure?
